Those all seem like good ideas to me but then I also think back to what the articles say about finding that thing that the reader is very interested in and then using it as a tool to motivate them. If they refuse to read anything but this material what do instructors do if there is not any material that meets both the demands of the students interest and the demands of the students academic instructional level? I feel like these are hard questions to bring answers to and while I agree that sparking interest is necessary for these students where is the line drawn between what they want to do and what they need to do or is it always possible to find some sort of common ground?
