I too considered the implications of each of the three theories presented that could possibly explain the cognitive processing styles of students with ASD. I remember Dr. Van Loan talking about executive function in our classroom management class. Although we touched on it briefly, it really resonated with me. I also question how much of our teaching we should base on reaching the "ultimate goal of silent reading comprehension"? I am not sure I agree that silent reading comprehension is all that they make it out to be. I know a lot of students who can do this but perform better when they are allowed to quietly read it aloud.
