Practice Makes Perfect

I don't see why practice wouldn't help a student with ASD to become better as long as they are practicing the correct way to begin with. Although students with ASD have dificits, they are more than capable of learning most anything you put in front of them with the right type of instruction and the ability to change if needed. Each student with ASD learns differently than the next and requires different interventions. Once you establish what those are and are willing to truly adapt to the student I don't see why allowing them to practice would prohibit them from mastering comprehension. I do believe, though, that leaving them to practice on their own would not really help them if that is the main type of practice they are exposed to. I strongly believe that modeling is the best type of practice students with ASD really benefit from.
