Cynthia, you make an excellent point. For students who do not have disabilites, they are able to use background knowledge to help them learn. It comes more naturally for them. However, for students with ASD (per our reading), it is more difficult for these students to grasp these connections. I know you said you haven't had a lot of time, but is there something you do specifically as a teacher to help kids with ASD make these connections?
