Comprehension Influences

I think these characteristics play an very important role as well. In my School-Age Language Disorders class these three characteristics were a part of several big topics we discussed in class. We referred to them with difference names (Theory of Mind = Nonliteral Language Disorder, Weak Central Coherence = Information Processing Disorder, and Executive Function = Meta Skills Language Disorder). In class we talked about ways and strategies to target them individually. We also watched video case studies so we were able to see the impacts that it had on the child's reading. I wouldn't say one is more detrimental than the other but I feel if the child is presenting with several of these characteristics that could be very detrimental. If they are displaying one characteristic and receiving instruction that its not as serious as several characteristics that are co-occurring.
