What I took away from the articles

The biggest things I took away from the articles were the fact that children with autism may appear to be able to read but really most of the time they struggle with comprehending. They usually struggle with comprehension because of the lack of social context needed in some cases or because they are so focused on the small details rather a bigger idea or theme. Another thing I took away from the articles is that a lot of the students with ASD can range all over the place with being able to decode words. It was also interesting to see that students with autism don't pick up on the word pattern but memorize words based on the size or shape of a word. In the video, like everyone else has been saying it is important to realize the importance of choice and being patient when working with students with ASD.
