I love that you stated the "If you met one kid with autism" quote. I agree that this is so important and we need to remind ourselves of this constantly. Not only for children with autism, but for all students with disabilities. Many disability categories come along with stigmas. Teachers have preconceived ideas of what these students are like based on their "category" or "label". I think as teachers, it isn't a bad thing to have ideas about what our students will be like based on their disability category, but we certainly can not allow their labels to truly label them as a person or as a learner. Students are so much more than their labels, and honestly I don't believe their labels have anything to do with them as a human.
