Firstly, I also found myself thinking about how little individual or one on one instruction time is typically allotted in the classroom. I also have found through internships that is is difficult to have students who aren't receiving this instruction to really engage in meaningful learning on their own. How can we make sure we both set aside this time, and keep then rest of the class doing meaningful work.

In regards to finding strategies when all else fails, I feel that the key is persistence. I have personally stepped into Special Ed classrooms and seen very bizarre things that simply worked. When all else fails, ask colleges, parents, or even the student what they think would help. Go find evidence based practices, or simply search the web. There are so many resources for teachers now!

        I think that is a good idea. I like that idea. Having the centers will also help encourage any ASD students to think beyond the things that they are solely interested in.
