One thing that many of us have discussed in the threaded discussion is how important it is for students to be interested in the texts that they are reading. This is a form of internal motivation. For example, we saw how affective this was in the Treschaun video. But, I think that it is important for us to realize that there are so many forms of motivation, internal and external. For example, as a student I am extremely motivated through grades and external praise. This is important for us to remember as teachers because we have to make deliberate efforts to trigger each child's motivation, no matter what it is. It would not be fair for us to assume that every child is generically motivated in the same manner!
