RE: logo reading

I find this discussion about logo reading so interesting! I honestly never really knew it was a known strategy. Finding meaning in words and letters is extremely important. It gives children a reason to want to read and write. Motivation is so important! The hard part about this is generalization. Students with ASD often have trouble generalizing information to other scenarios. Like the BR example above. It is hard to understand that BR can be for Baskin Robbins and for the name of a school and many more things. As a teacher, it is our job to teach generalization so that students can apply what they know to more than one thing.
