First thank you for the insight into your classroom and daily struggle. This video stood out to me because the book seemed to make the student so happy. Like you mentioned, he was totally engaged and wanted to turn the pages on his own. To me that was more important then giving him a high school novel that would be un-engaging and far above his instructional level. If we were encouraged to use age appropriate books, could you find grade level books with similar themes that would be read aloud to students?
