Great Strategy
Thu Jun 4, 2015 23:00

I never thought about using music as a strategy for reading. It is so true how we hear and listen to music everyday, because what is life without music? (horrible is what it would be!) So to use music and their lyrics to teach literacy is such an interesting strategy. I remember in High School that one of my English Lit classes, for a novel we read, we had to find music that related to that novel in some way or made a reference that could be connected and break down the lyrics and discuss our thinking. I find that to be a great skill that could be used for anything that involves research and understanding "between the lines" meaning of texts. So I believe that using music with literacy would be a great strategy, if used correctly of course.
