I think that awareness of the entire world of print, including logos alongside conventional print, is one of the first goals for learners. Logo reading is a good way to practice letter recognition and make the connection between written symbols and ideas/the world. I can see how students, maybe especially those with ASD (?), would learn a logo in connection to a letter and get stuck on thinking that is the only function the letter serves. Instead of fading logo reading, I think it should just be interspersed with instruction about letters and words so that the child gets to see how letters can make meaning of anything you can think of.
