After reading one of the articles it seemed as if this part of the day was the independent time where the students were allowed to choose what activities they wanted to participate in. The classroom had been recently enriched with materials to encourage reading and writing practices in the hopes that the children would choose some of these activities and it would benefit their academic skills while still being engaging and enjoyable for them.

      I don't know. However, to me it looked like it was free time and JR just choose to look through books during this time. I hope so anyways.
