This is my eighth year of teaching. My first three years were in a K/1 combo class, which looking back I loved and miss. The next 4 were in a straight first. This year is my first year being able to really see students at all elementary grade levels. One of my favorite times of the day has been going into kindergarten and teaching them the LEA stories! I have loved seeing them grow just in this first month of school. They are starting to hold their LEA journals correctly, can point to some of the words and some can actually recognize some of our words from repeated readings, echo readings etc… This year I have loved already getting to see the beginning reading model in action from kindergarten and even with some of my low performing third graders.
