I found your comment about daily reading very interesting Adel, and so very true! My son was diagnosed with a reading disability in 2nd grade, but I have always tried to continue reading with and to him over all grade levels. Although his reading fluency is choppy and labored, he does have strong comprehension of vocabulary. I believe that's because he was read to (and I still do!) even though he's 19! Reading is the best gift we can give our own children and our students, so I too would have been taken back by that comment of being off on the weekends.
