Reading aloud is a powerful way to put conventional grammar and syntax in children's heads and experience.

Mentor texts are a systematic way of teaching children writing skills from models. They are often thought of as whole texts, but mentor texts can be as simple as a sentence structure you want to teach or a grammar rule you want to your students to apply.
