I also found the article about scientifically-based instruction very interesting. Unfortunately, sometimes I think we tend to "jump on the band wagon" of the latest and greatest and expect it to be a silver-bullet-fix-all. In reality these programs and interventions can be a waste of precious time and money if they don't align with the students' actual needs. I feel that's why the ERSI or the IRI are both very important in determining students' strengths and weaknesses which will ensure we don't have students in interventions that they don't need.
