Georgia had to say that the realities of being a prefect were not living up to the hype she had initially felt. In fact, she was coming out of their first meeting with Professor Skies feeling significantly deflated. The problem, she supposed, wasn’t even really in the job itself, so much as the fact that this was a ball year and, as Professor Skies had just reminded them, it was traditional for the prefects and head students to lead the opening dance. Professor Skies had said if any of them really had a problem they should come and see her, and that she didn’t want anyone to have to ‘be embarrassed’ (the most euphemistic way she’d been able to think of to reference John Umland dancing with a piece of scenery when his brother was one of the people listening to this speech) but to Georgia, the only thing that sounded sadder than desperately struggling to find a date was asking a teacher for help with the same.

In theory, they were all in the same boat, and it would have maybe worked out had there been equal numbers of male and female prefects, but the girls outnumbered the guys by about three to one. And of those guys, two were the kind that wouldn’t look twice at a girl like her. She was not on the pulse enough with Pureblood gossip to know that Louis wasn’t as into blood status as he had been but even if she had been aware of this fact, there was the fact that he looked like a catalogue model whilst she was distinctly fat. She had been managing to care less about that, a bit. Between the circus girl labelling it ‘booty’ and the mall guy who’d been into her, she got that she wasn’t totally hideous. But unless Louis or Fabian had a particular thing for curvy halfbloods, she was pretty sure she was still the bottom of the heap as far as Sonora social structure was concerned. The only boy who needed a dance partner and might be willing to touch her with a barge pole was Joe Umland. They had being Teppenpaws and mutual desperation in common, but he hung out with the cute (skinny) girl in his own year a lot, and Georgia wasn’t sure that Teppenpaw altruism extended to being her dance partner just cos she needed one and a girl that Joe actually liked (whether even just as a friend) didn’t.

“Remind me again why we were happy to get these badges?” she grumbled to Zevalyn, as they made their way away from the meeting. “Do you have any idea who you’re going to ask to be your dance partner? Do you have any idea how to even dance?” she added, as another issue hit her.

OOC - Am allowed to make up what was said by DH Skies as I author her as well.

    • The prefect meeting could have gone worse, Zevalyn supposed. The duties expected of her were not particularly onerous or difficult. Some patrols. Being available to help people. That kind of thing.... more
      • “That’s really cool,” she smiled, when Zevalyn pointed out the plus side of being a prefect from her point of view. “I guess having it vaguely endorsed that I’m a decently responsible human,... more
        • Zevalyn nodded in agreement that validation of responsibility and lack of prejudice was nice, then laughed a little when this was posed against needing to dance in front of everybody. “I can’t speak... more
          • Got anyone in mind to talk about? - Georgia, Thu Feb 22 08:03
OOC - I’m going to kind of overlook your line about Jozua being ‘a disaster’ as in Transfig Georgia remarks on the whole dance thing and prefect getting ‘better and better’ and in the first post of... more
            • OOC: Okay, that's fine. BIC: Zevalyn laughed at Georgia's joke not to make her mad. "Well, no," she agreed that she had no intention of 'going nuclear' on anyone, "but it is good practice, and I'll... more
              • It's good to be prepared - Georgia, Sat Mar 3 09:27
“Maybe,” she reiterated, when Zevalyn said she should ask Kir. “I think I’ll keep thinking about it for a bit…” she shrugged. Ok, so that was a bad plan in that all the available guys could get... more
                • I’m a proper girl scout over here - Zevalyn, Wed Mar 14 11:31
“Okay,” Zevalyn agreed, not pushing Georgia since she didn’t seem willing to try asking anyone out yet. “There’s still time,” she reassured, as much for herself as for Georgia. She’d been in ‘as... more
