Zevalyn Ives
Good to know; this where I’ll go to do that then

Zevalyn nodded in agreement that validation of responsibility and lack of prejudice was nice, then laughed a little when this was posed against needing to dance in front of everybody. “I can’t speak for you, of course,” she said smiling, “but I think I’d pick the self-validation for me. There’s what, twelve of us, plus the Heads if they’re not prefects too? Add dates, and we’re talking a crowd almost big enough to get lost in.”

In response to Georgia’s slightly rambling answer to her seemingly straightforward yes-or-no question about Lily and Jozua’s dating status, she shook her head. “I’m in the dueling club,” she pointed out, “but you’re right, and after this week, I’m not sure Jozua is really a good idea. He seems a bit of a disaster this year.”

“Oh, of course not,” Zevalyn promised to keep Kir’s not-quite-a-secret to herself. “But I think a fourth year would be okay, since there aren’t really all that many in fifth. And they might like getting to do the prefect dance, because maybe it would encourage the teachers to think of putting a badge on their robes.” She hadn’t needed to try to draw attention to earn her own badge, and wasn’t sure Georgia had either (and Georgia had both other potential candidates in her House and the knowledge that she was actually eligible for it) so maybe that was just a competitive Aladren mentality, but she felt it was a valid consideration.

Though, unfortunately, there was a dearth of Aladren fourth year boys as well. And the Crotalus crop of that year probably wouldn’t look twice at a half blood or a muggleborn. “But I don’t know how much Kir or Isaac care about that.”

“Well, maybe once we wrangle up some dance partners, whoever they might be, we should invite them for double dates to the music room and get in some dance practice so we don’t all look like idiots.”

  • “That’s really cool,” she smiled, when Zevalyn pointed out the plus side of being a prefect from her point of view. “I guess having it vaguely endorsed that I’m a decently responsible human,... more

“Okay,” Zevalyn agreed, not pushing Georgia since she didn’t seem willing to try asking anyone out yet. “There’s still time,” she reassured, as much for herself as for Georgia. She’d been in ‘as... more
