I'm not crossing any boundary lines

Deputy Headmaster Fell had less personality than anyone Gigi had ever met. He lingered, hovered and loitered, overseeing his domain like an especially sanctimonious meerkat. He had a resting expression of disinterested dissatisfaction, and perhaps was perpetually reconsidering his life choices: for someone who worked in a school he seemed seriously at odds with its mostly teenaged population. Still, Georgina offered him a cheerful smile as she pushed herself up - with some difficulty, owing to her restrictive attire - to stand on both feet, weight balanced unequally so her hips were slanted, and pulled her bag back onto her shoulder.

“Good morning, Professor Fell,” she said brightly, with particular emphasis on the greeting that he had neglected to offer her. “My robes are in my bag, Sir,” Gigi patted the satchel slung over her shoulder. “It’s before breakfast, I haven’t finished getting dressed, yet.” Of course she had finished dressing herself to her complete satisfaction, and she had no intention of putting on her uniform robes unless specifically instructed to do so by a class professor (she always complied with direct instructions; nobody could accuse her of being disobedient or disrespectful when issued with a precise order), but that was certainly not what the professor wanted to hear. Often it was best to let grown ups think they were in charge, but Gigi had been subjected to seven years of education wearing a drab grey uniform, and was not about to succumb to that reality for the next seven years if she could possibly avoid it. Therefore, whenever staff members did not seem to object, Gigi left her robes in her bag, where they often provided comfortable bedding for Lady Godiva (although not today, because her ferret had grumpily refused to come out of her cage that morning and Gigi had not been in the frame of mind to argue).

“Where are your robes, Sir?” Georgina returned the enquiry, large brown eyes blinking as innocently as she could muster up at the stuffy wizard who clearly took more pride in his appearance than his people skills. “It’s important for figures of authority to set an example for young witches and wizards to follow,” the Aquila continued, sufficiently well practised in sassing staff members that she easily prevented any mischievous smirk from ruining her sanctimonious charade. “Oh,” the first year added suddenly as if the thought had just occurred to her. “Are you waiting until after breakfast to put them on? That’s partly why I never wear my uniform until I get to class: I’m terribly clumsy. I wouldn’t want to risk spilling porridge all down my robes, would I?” Concerned she might have overdone it, Gigi fixed a placid smile firmly in place, a task easily accomplished as her peripheral vision captured nearly a dozen frogs hopping along the ground behind Fell.
