Satveer Mittal
Dazed and confused
Fri May 4, 2018 11:57

Satveer sat semi-slumped at his desk. His elbow perched atop the wood and his hand cupping the side of his chin, supporting his thumping head, as he listened to Professor Boot. Having gone to bed before lights out, and woken up a number of times in the night for no discernible reason, he felt tired. Actually, he felt more than tired. His reactions were slow and he had even skipped on breakfast that morning. Every step of the walk to the diner made his head throb and the sight of food made his stomach do feel like it was on a rollercoaster with 18 loops and a jump. The smell of the food made the ride go faster. Even buttered toast and sweet sugared tea, Grandma’s magic make you better food, were unapproachable this morning.

Satveer never really got ill. He’d never even broken a bone. His had inherited his family's strong immune system and had pretty much coasted on the highway of health since birth. That is however, not to say that he was the picture of perfect health. He’d gotten the usual seasonal colds that kids get, but he’d ‘kept calm and carried on’, as was his father's decree. It was often suggested that his family’s fortunate health was down to their travelling. They’d managed a lot of continents over the years and frequented many different habitats, both muggle and wizard alike.

As Satveer listened to Professor Boot’s instructions, he found himself being worked up into something of a fluster. The more he tried to process what Boot was talking about, the more confused he got. What was it he was asking them to do?. Satveer looked around the room for reassurance. It may have been his hazy head, but he was certain there were other students as dumbfounded as he, and they didn't look ill.

Boot tailed off and the noise from the classroom increased as students began to shuffle and prepare for whatever it was that boot had tasked them with. Satveer felt rough. He turned his head once more in search of something, anything, to help him understand what it was they were required to do. Sadly, the movement was enough to make his vision blur a little and his head (figuratively) spin. The back of his throat began producing saliva at an alarming rate (a new sensation for Satveer). Realising he wasn’t well. Satveer placed his free arm on the desk and lay his head atop his wrist. “Eugh” he sighed with discontent, hoping not to melt on any adjacent students.
