Ruben Lundqvist
Hello, the party's here now [Kaye]

Between the laughs, the shouts, and the more-than-occasional explosions, Aquila House was practically a smörgåsbord of pranks on the first of April. Ruben enjoyed it. Maybe too much, but it was not as if April Fools had been celebrated at Durmstrang. As long as he’d been a student there, the weeks of late March and early April had involved their dueling master confiscating wands and releasing them into the Norwegian mountains for a practical lesson series on stave-making, runic imbuements, and general outdoor survivalism. Admittedly, his first couple years had been less practical, as he had been obligated to let his assigned partner take the lead. Very unwillingly obligated, but obligated nonetheless. Even his preteenaged self could concede the necessity of simply observing the years-older Russian, if equally out of self-preservation from the girl as it was a recognition of the valuable learning experience.

Needless to say, Ruben had participated very heavily last year. He had not been very involved in this strange tradition during his very first year at RMI, because he hadn’t been made aware of the existence of April Fools, which he could only assume had been an intentional oversight of his Housemates. But last year, he’d made up for that, and this year was his seventh and final, so obviously he had sought to push well past his record last year. With great success, he was pleased to note, mentally checking off one of the last fifth-years as Kateri Lemont set off one of his traps. Upon picking up the monarch butterfly bracelet he had liberated from Kaye’s “yard sale” (thanks, Kalle-Anssi) the girl’s fingers turned a matching shade of orange, and the colour quickly spread up her arms and face. As expected, it clashed wonderfully with her blonde hair. And her pink dress. He was further pleased to note that she seemed distracted enough by the jewellery not to even notice. She just might make it through the rest of the afternoon before cluing in and trying-and-failing to charm her skin back to normal. Heh.

Marissa was apparently throwing a party today, which had come as a small surprise considering the lack of parties earlier in the year, yet definitely a good surprise considering his fantastic luck at RMI parties. He had, of course, swung through the fake outdoors on his way. Hadn’t managed to locate Myffi yet today, but that didn’t matter. If she couldn’t be bothered to go into details on who she was sharing news of their Much More Fun gardening efforts with, then what in Hel did he care about getting her agreement in donating some bottles to both literally and metaphorically boost spirits at the party? He made his selection - a few of the brews they had made together, plus some corn-based liquor he’d been experimenting with and a large flask of his main solo efforts, which was potato vodka. Well, potato vodka, third edition, the first having resulted in Rose kicking him on the Pitch and having to tell him about it later and the second being the mix that the Packmen dads had only vaguely thanked him for. Not that he was doing this for thank-yous, nor deterred by a few rib kicks, but still he was confident that the third edition would be the best of both worlds.

Dressed to impress in a solid black three-piece suit, sans shirt or tie, Ruben strode into the classroom as if he totally wasn’t smuggling ten bottles of varying sizes in the Undetectably Extensioned inside pocket of his jacket. He swept the room with a glance, blue eyes lingering appreciatively on several of the comparably better-dressed attendees, and then continued long strides over to the buffet. A casual clap on the shoulder in greeting and Steven Rhines became the unknowing carrier of a little jinx he liked to call the kläderätare. (Translation: clothes-eater. It would cause the other boy’s sweater to unravel as he moved, the unravelling string gobbling itself up into thin air so as to avoid detection. Steven wasn’t the type to stand still in class let alone at a party, Ruben knew from observation, and it was pretty much good as guaranteed that his sweater would be hanging off the shoulders before three-quarters an hour was up.)

While he was at it, he squinted at the nearest bowl of popcorn and encouraged it to pop itself further, complete with a few loud cracks and sparks. Then he took a glass of punch, because he deserved it, and let out an exaggerated sigh a moment later, because it was pineappleing Jello. Kept his glass still, because punch was punch and he could (and did) still infuse it with a little (or more than a little) something extra. But he directed another nonverbal, wandless charm behind him as he left the table so that some of the Jello would turn into Yell-o. As in, jello that would yell. Because no party was complete without some yelling. Although speaking of yelling and Jello, he spotted a welcome sight. Taking up a second glass of the more vocal version of not-punch, and adding another something extra, Ruben headed straight for his girlfriend and offered her the glass with a dramatic flourish. Whether the effect of this flourish was ruined or improved by the spontaneous eruption of a nearby balloon and resulting silvery sparkles on his blonde updo was debatable. He managed to keep a straight face, at least, in spite of the stray sparkles now tickling his nose. “Drink?”
