Ruben Lundqvist
Just a casual observer [reply to Myffi]

Contrary to what he assumed was popular belief, Ruben thoroughly enjoyed spending time outdoors. His current plan for after graduation was, in fact, largely based around his desire to live off nature; he figured he had gotten more than enough experience with fishing, foraging, and the like over the past years (a well-rounded combination of mandatory “so you think you can survive the Norse winter” sessions in the mountains outside Durmstrang and compulsive “so you think you can avoid spending time with your weird dad and fake mom” sessions in the forests outside the Lundqvist family home(s) in Arvidsjaur and Umeå) to get by just fine. More than fine, really.

This plan was especially appealing because the government was kind of mostly garbage, and it meant that he could just camp it out and do his own thing while he waited for all the moronic politicians to zap each other with hexes and/or bombs and free up space for people to get some real progress made.

Ruben had, of course, rolled his eyes at seeing the garishly coloured posters stuck up around the school, but his personal investment in being outdoors as much as possible meant that he was actually vaguely curious as to what this Agricultural Club was supposed to be about. He hadn’t expressed that to anyone, duh. Not even Kaye. She had been quite happy to make fun of it with him whenever they passed yet another hand-drawn carrot or strawberry in the halls and he saw no need to change that, because making fun of things with Kaye was pretty satisfying on its own.

But supposedly he “needed better hobbies”, as Heather had snarkily informed him shortly after his and Danny’s friendly scuffle. Ruben didn’t care for Heather and had taken to just cackling quietly at her while reminiscing about the small mountain of items Kaye had been pilfering and handing out like candy. However, Tennant hadn’t yet given up on their second round of anger management. The blonde was definitely not going to join this agricultural club, because it was a dumb idea and foraging was better than farming anyways, but if he hung around the club meetings a bit, maybe he could trick Tennant into thinking that he had mellowed out or whatever and also trick Heather into thinking that he had listened to her. He hated to think of Heather thinking he agreed with her, but he did like the idea of Heather being so pleased that she started prancing around in her stuck-up way and didn’t notice Kaye stealing her furniture next.

So now Ruben was leaning against a tree on the edge of RMI’s little underground forest clearing. Arms crossed across his chest, biceps bulging over the gothic-styled art on his sleeveless hoodie, he watched skeptically as the small group of students began splitting off into even smaller groups. He’d arrived late, but had eavesdropped enough to know they were brainstorming lists of foods to grow. Weird. The glasses girl who had organized it suddenly approached him, and blue eyes moved onto her, a bit of a natural smirk forming. “Why are you thanking me? Clearly we all must be thanking you for having such an… interesting idea.” Was Ruben being sarcastic? Who knew? She was hot, anyways. He thought he’d seen her in a couple classes before, but never face-on like this.

Her over-sized green sweater with tie-dye orange legging and canvas boots was a great choice for the very first ever meeting of the agricultural club, or AgriClub as she had referred to it on the... more

      • No spectating - Myfanwy, Sun Oct 15 11:16
The person she was talking to was called Ruben, and actually Myffi didn't know him very well - she hadn't been there at RMI all that long, she didn't know most people very well, to be honest - but he ... more
        • I guess I can participate a little - Ruben, Sun Oct 15 22:49
Wow, she was… excited about this. Alright, then. Nothing wrong with that. To each their own or whatever. It just gave him more to internally snicker about, although those internal snickerings did... more
          • That’s the spirit - Myffi, Mon Oct 16 15:13
She wasn’t necessarily a firm believer in making up your own mind about someone or something - why would people bother to write reviews of anything if everyone was just going to make their own minds... more
            • But when do we get to the spirits? - Ruben, Tue Oct 17 17:43
Of course Glasses Farmgirl was capable of yammering on about spell theory as it pertained to plant growth without needing even to warm up. Of course. He should have been anticipating that, but at... more
              • Ludus supra praemium - Myffi, Wed Oct 18 08:59
Okay fine, Ruben did make a valid point about a serious obstacle that Myffi had been doing her best to overlook. Nothing about the climate at RMI was natural, because it was, in fact, underground and ... more

“What, you think I lie?” Ruben fired back, grinning. “Ja, actual jelly. Grape. I have a theory,” now that was a phrase he most often heard or used in conversations with Holland, but it seemed... more

Ruden didn’t seem at all bothered that she called him on her reputation. In fact he seemed sort of proud of it to be honest. This time he was definitely mocking her when he folded his arms too. Myffi ... more

Marley got really excited by the idea of zucchini noodles, which made Nolan feel like he hadn’t explained them right. “Nah, it’s just a special way of cutting them up. Really long and thin and curly, ... more
