Ruben Lundqvist
Yes, this is kind of a reunion
Sun Oct 29, 2017 12:20

Ruben had been strongly considering just skipping class today. He'd already skipped a few times since this new "professor" had replaced the (visually) appealing and actually respectable Ivy Rasnick, because the introduction of a woman who should clearly be teaching kindergarten had reduced Defense Against the Dark Arts from a moderate waste of time to completely laughable. However, his preferred way of skipping was to swap out the class for a workout session outdoors, yet today's class was apparently going to be held outdoors. Reading that announcement on the noticeboard earlier this morning, Ruben had loudly mocked it to the nearest bystander. Something about how the school should try harder to confine the woman's inappropriate cheer to the Dark Arts classroom, lest more serious practitioners like himself be inconvenienced. He hadn't committed it to memory; wasn't worth it for such a meaningless class.

Still, Ruben was attending it today, because said meaningless class was occupying his favourite workout space. (Also because he was genuinely a little curious to see how the woman would hold an All Years class. Not that he'd admit to his curiousity, of course. He had no actual interest in DADA. Stupid acronym for an equally stupid subject.)

Long hands folded in his hoodie pockets, the blonde snorted at the sight of their professor. "Och här har vi en galen kvinna som tänkar att regnbågar är lämpliga kläder i den mörk skogen," he remarked conversationally, a bit of a sneer giving away its meaning. "Har älvorna äntligen övertagen hennes hjärna?" Kalle-Anssi, who was standing at his elbow, made a meeping sound at this and kicked Ruben's shoe. Ruben in turn mussed up the younger boy's hair and laughed, although he did stop making fun of the woman... not that he stayed quiet, either. When she began lecturing the class, he soon picked up a running commentary in whispered Swedish, aimed specifically at Anselm, because his semi-brother didn't need all this propaganda. The Dark Arts had their place; he didn't know what the younger years' classes normally sounded like, but he wouldn't let Kalle-Anssi fall behind like his yearmates because their professor wasn't educated enough to know it.

For the same reason, he was interested in partnering up together for the duration of the class. However, Anselm suggested working with different people instead, and although Ruben eyed the student his younger brother pointed out with obvious skepticism, he decided that they couldn't do too much harm and let him scamper off. And then Ruben stood there, fully expecting to be approached sooner than later - which worked out exactly that way.

The tiny redhead who had come up to him looked extremely familiar and it took him only a moment to place her as Marissa's younger sister. A grin curled across his face at the realization. Oh, this was going to be fun. In addition to that, the professor was her aunt, or so the girl claimed. He filed that away to ask Marissa about later. "Kit, ja?" Ruben confirmed her name before arching a thick brow down at her. One hand had wandered down from his hoodie to fiddle with the chains on his jeans; their clinking seemed an appropriate accompaniment. "I am definitely 'really good' at spells, but are you sure you want to be working with me? For I think you tried to kill me the last time we met." That was a huge exaggeration - he clearly recalled how the girl had whacked erratic Bludgers in what exclusively his direction all throughout the last Aquila/Lyra match - but none of it had come close to hitting him. Ruben was too good for that.

“I don’t want a crup,” Kit informed Ruben, planting both fists on her hips and glaring up at him. “Crups are a lot of work and I don’t want to train it. That’s why Darby is the best, because Darby... more

Ruben’s arm was suddenly in the way of Kit’s helpful wand, so her spell (which worked!) hit him in the arm instead of where Kit had intended it to hit him, which was where she’d accidentally hit him... more
