Emmett pondered for a second, trying to decide what looked stupider: to say “no thanks” to Rose’s Healing spell for his chin and look like a stubborn, ungrateful child, or to accept it and stand there with his chin in her hand, patching him up like a kid who fell off a skateboard. Either way, he felt dumb and wished he’d decided to skip class today. (Almost. Seeing the girls in bras was maybe still probably worth it.)

“Cool, thanks,” he replied sheepishly, deciding whatever the social implications of either were, it was probably best not to have an open wound, however small, on an obstacle course. Emmett wasn’t a particularly cautious person, but he figured if he somehow managed to get the cut infected, he’d never hear the end of it.

As he adjusted the log on his shoulder, a thought occurred to him. “Hey, uh, where’s your log?” Emmett glanced around a bit to see if she had it floating around behind her - a better idea than him just toting it about as it was, he noted, and after her answer he might just have to make an adjustment - but to no result. “You did grab one, right?”
