Kaye Packman
Even if they weren't so great?
Mon Jul 16, 2018 15:48

Kaye didn’t have to go to the first Spellwork class as a seventh year, but she was just so bored. After the feast, she’d gone back to Aquila and hung out on the couch for a little while. It wasn’t as fun without Ruben there. She’d thought about writing him, but she didn’t want to be clingy, and it was hard to even know where to send letters when her boyfriend’s address was “somewhere in the woods.”

She barely even felt like messing with Heather. They’d exchanged hellos, but other than that, Kaye went to bed. After last term, it felt like she’d done all she could to her roommate. Either she needed to step it up or give it up. At this point, she was leaning towards giving up. She just wasn’t inspired. She thought about it every so often, but it felt like that door had closed. What else could they possibly do to each other? If she’d realized she’d be done with this so early, she would’ve saved a prank or two for this year. How was she supposed to keep herself entertained for a full year? Go to class?

...ugh, fine, she’d go to class.

She threw on her black wig with purple streaks as well as a lacey and see through black net top. She pulled on a dark floral miniskirt over her black leggings and zipped up her knee high stiletto boots that added several inches to her height. After a little bit of debate, she added a corset over the very see through top just so no one passed out at the sight of her bra. Thankfully she’d mastered eating while wearing elbow length fingerless gloves, because breakfast that morning was delicious. She ate several servings of bacon and french toast. Her purple lipstick didn’t even get smudged.

Kaye barely made it into class on time before Nolan made eye contact and asked to be partners. Her blue eyes blinked before she shrugged. Whatever, they’d be good partners. It’d just be nice to know what they were doing. Well, for a lesson involving a pensieve, she couldn’t have ended up with a much better partner. Of the people left at RMI, she considered Nolan to be one of the most entertaining. At least this wouldn’t be boring.

“Should I just pick whatever I feel like, or did you wanna set a challenge?”

It was like Nolan forgot he was working with Kaye. She grinned and raised perfectly etched eyebrows at the mention of a challenged. “Oh, a challenge, absolutely. What level of challenge? A show me an embarrassing memory challenge or a show me your soul challenge? Oh, I’ve got it. Show me how you lost your leg. How’s that for a challenge?”

“Thought you might say that,” Nolan quipped back, before Kaye made her request. Then he was so surprised (but simultaneously not surprised) that he had to laugh. No one else Nolan had ever met would... more

There were plenty of memories Kaye could choose to show Nolan. Some might be genuinely entertaining for him, like when she went on the dolphin tour in Galveston with her dad. He’d painted this... more

Nolan, who hadn’t counted upon the possibility that Kaye would accept the challenge, cocked an auburn eyebrow. He had been trying to respond to her request with an equally rude one. Could she even... more
            • Well damn, okay. They were really doing this. This made her respect (or mild interest, she didn’t exactly know the right word to use here) for Nolan to increase by at least half a letter grade. Like, ... more

Nolan didn’t especially want to watch the accident that had ended with his leg being amputated, but watching Kaye watch it without having a solid idea of what she was seeing was freaky. It’d be nice... more
