You gotta be more specific

Dade was in a bad mood now. Drew wasn’t mad, but Dade should have known that the other Cetus wouldn’t believe him. Nobody ever believed him anymore, except Rose and Holland. Maybe if Holland and Rose were still here, this wouldn’t even be a problem. But then Drew put his hand on Dade’s wrist and Dade stopped being able to breathe for a minute. Dade knew that Drew’s family liked hugging and that sort of thing, but historically Drew had been more reserved with Dade. Not with Kit, but Kit tried to hug pretty much everything and everyone (except Darlene, but that was a different case). But now Drew had hugged Dade and then touched his wrist, both within the span of something like five minutes. Dade didn’t know how to respond except that he kind of wanted to grab Drew’s hand again and that made him blush a little bit before he quickly jerked away.

“I’m not gay,” he snapped. “Or anything like that,” Dade added, for good measure. “Connor is just a liar,” he continued. Connor probably hadn’t meant to be terrible by telling Claudia what Rose had told him, but Dade still wasn’t sure what Rose had told him. He didn’t want to ask, even if it was safe for him to talk to Connor alone. Because there definitely couldn’t be anyone else there. Well, maybe Drew except - except Dade didn’t want Drew to think he was gay. Because he wasn’t, he just did something stupid one time and got caught.

“And Remington didn’t write me, anyway,” Dade said. “The only person who wrote me this summer was Madeleine.” And kind of Drew by extension, but Drew and Dade didn’t write each other, Madeleine just sometimes said that “P.S. Drew says hi” or “P.S. Drew says he’s looking forward to everyone coming back for school”. Sometimes Drew even wrote the P.S. but he never sent his own letter. Guys didn’t write each other like that, or at least that’s what Dade had figured out from Connor. Connor never got letters at home, except from Claudia. It would be kind of nice to get an entire letter just for him from Drew, but Dade thought that might be weird. Besides, what would they talk about? They couldn’t write down stuff about self defense club or anything like that. Dade could probably ask Drew about music though. He wasn’t really interested in music on his own but he liked hearing Drew talk about it, or even play it.

“I know you don’t believe me but Remington definitely talks to Claudia now. Even if she doesn’t know she’s a spy for Claudia, she definitely is.” Dade glared over at his friend, waiting for the disagreement he knew was coming.

Wait, what? Confused, Drew furrowed his brows. Remington and Claudia weren’t friends. At least he didn’t think they were. Okay, he had seen them talking at the April Fool’s party (which must be the... more
