Do they come with candy floss?

The other girl’s wand relieved itself of her grasp, sailed a short distance flew the air on a mostly downwards trajectory then clattered to the floor between the two first years. “Ha!” Georgina exclaimed gleefully, a broad grin on her face. “That was epic! You’ve got to try this!” That was the next instruction to follow, so the odds were high that the other girl would give the spell a go, but Gigi was suffering from logic-impairing euphoria. She had done magic before with her wand, but not on another person. She literally took someone’s wand. That was so cool.

“Well done Gigi, that was Awesome!” Her partner was giggling, which Georgina took as a sign that she was okay with her wand now lying on the floor.

“Yes it was,” Gigi agreed, laughing a little herself. Woah she needed to calm down and cool off: she was getting high on achievement from literally the first spell in the first class. Lame. She sucked in her breath and her smile while her fellow first year collected her wand, and by the time Vivica introduced herself, Gigi had mastered some basic composure. “A pleasure to disarm you, Vivica,” she smirked. She couldn’t help noticing the Vi- name trend of this girl and her roommate, but the pronunciation was different so she probably wouldn’t get their names confused. No guarantees on that, though.

Now it was Vivica’s turn to cast the spell, Gigi mimicked her opponent’s earlier stance, standing with her arms by her sides and her wand pointing down. Her grip on her wand was light but secure - she wasn’t going to try to make this harder for the other girl on her first attempt. Next time, for sure, but it was only fair to make sure they could both do the spell before they started testing its limits. She waited, and the other girl said the spell, and nothing happened. Vivica tried again, and ditto.

Georgina wished she could answer her pronunciation question, but she was equally novice. “You got me,” she said with a shrug. “You’re from my neck of the woods, right?” The assumption was based on Vivica’s accent sounding rather similar to Gigi’s own, and definitely not American, that was for sure. “I don’t know if accents make a difference for spell casting.” She’d guess not, because that would really suck for the Welsh, and then the Headmaster might not have risen to such a position of authority. “Try it again, maybe you need more confidence.” Maybe not, but the kid had seemed lacking in that department. It made more sense than the accent theory, anyway.
