No Horns!

DJ listened as Claudia spoke about how the class stecture worked and why she valued it. He nodded and hadn’t thought of it that way. Maybe she was right. “I hadn’t thought of it that way. That makes a lot of sense.” Maybe Claudia could change his mind about DADA he wouldn’t mind having a study buddy for DADA. If he found a reason to stick with the class he wouldn’t mind after all.

He nodded when she stated not to use mental manipulation spells and that arson was okay. He tilted his head. “I feel like there’s a story there.” DJ hadn’t actually heard about Claudia and Defense which was odd since th school was super gossipy. If had heard about Claudia before he might have approached her more cautiously.

Claudia gave him a small smile as she took a correct stance in a pencil skirt. DJ didn’t think it was the best outfit to wear for such a hands-on class but he really didn’t want to judge her especially since he had seen his mom fight her dad in a dress before. His mom and Dad rarely argued but somehow way before DJ could remember they had started dueling as a way to solve their issues.

He nodded again as Claudia let him know to use mild hexes that were painless and short-lived and then she was casting at him. ‘Anteoculatia’ she stated and DJ smiled. He had seen the deer antler spell once or twice and he knew personally he didn’t look cute as one. “Salvio Hexia,” he said and flicked his wand like the Deputy Head and the Professor had done. Thankfully, the spell sizzled upwards and DJ grinned.

“Oh good. I don’t have horns!” he said with a laugh as he touched his head. Glad he hadn’t embarrassed himself in front of the other girl. “Steleus.” he shot back at her. Horns were harmless so was sneezing. He hoped Claudia would see that DJ wasn’t hopeless at hexes. He didn’t know why but he wanted to make a good impression. Maybe it was because Claudia was Remy’s friend or maybe it was because Claudia herself was cute. DJ knew he really shouldn’t be thinking other girls were cute. He did still have Ella in his life. Hell in his bag he had three half read letters from her. She really wasn’t getting the hint at all.
