Hunter Ioma (Lyra 1st year)
I Swear I'm not Trying to Die
Mon Feb 27, 2017 20:45

Hunter was a big fan of Defense Against the Dark Arts class. He was a fan of any class where he got to use his wand, but the very practical nature of this class suited him. It hadn’t taken long for Hunter to realize he had a knack for wandwork and good intuition for defense, so he came back from the break with a wardrobe almost entirely with ease of movement in mind. He arrived plenty early for class in the khakis with the wand pocket that had become his signature and a tight shirt under his open robe. He had only gotten lost once on the way to the lab.

Hunter milled about for a bit before he noticed the notice on the door. Once he did he read it over quickly then paced as he repeated the list to himself a couple of times. He wanted to have the list fresh in his mind so if he got carried away they were the ones he’d likely reach for. He kept it up, alternating between pacing and bobbing in place to keep himself moving, until the professor showed up.

He had never heard of a pogrebin before, but they sounded like an interesting challenge. Magically induced hopelessness and the threat of being devoured! Definitely an adventure waiting to happen. Then on top of that they were… invisible? Or something? Just before Professor Rasnick opened the doors it occurred to Hunter that when facing impending magical dread magical cheering would probably be a good idea, so he pulled out his spruce wand and started casting the cheering charm. Part way through though he thought it might not be a bad idea to wait until he knew more about what he was up against before casting something on himself, so he directed the spell at the student in front of him, instead. He didn’t get a good look at who that was before the doors were open, at which point he bolted inside straight away.

He only took a few steps into the lab before stopping and looking around. All Rasnick had said was that they would have to figure out what to use against them and where they were… nothing else to help find them. Looking around he just saw… rocks.

Hunter felt his spirits start to flag just a little, but he rallied as he turned to the person he’d cast on just a moment ago, who’d wound up nearby once they got inside. “So, what do you figure?” He asked. “Possibly under the rocks?”
