Now, we slow it down a little

Ruben was surprised by the change in pace with the party's soundtrack. To be fair, he hadn't done much partying of this style before and so couldn't really be sure that his expectations would like up with reality. But Armaan, from their brief interactions, had struck him as being the type of guy who was into the more... what was the right way to describe the music that had been playing previously? Kind of bouncy, a solid beat, bit of an electronic vibe going on. Club music, or what he assumed club music must be like. Dagny had snuck him into her favourite club a couple times last summer, but it was a rock club, which probably sounded pretty different from the dancey music Armaan had focused on tonight.

Surprise, of course, didn't mean that he was opposed to a slow dance. Quite the opposite, actually. He didn't have much experience with slow dancing (to probably no one's surprise) but he liked the idea of it (also probably not much of a surprise). Offering the lead to him, Holland moved hens hand to his shoulder, and Ruben nodded in response. "I must only warn you that I do not have many interesting moves for this type of song," he informed hen cheerfully. Flashing a crooked grin, he wrapped an arm around hens waist, hand settling comfortably at the small of hens back. "So I may not lead as properly as you expect."

Eh, how high an expectation could Holland have of him, anyways? Especially in this type of party context. He tended to assume that the only thing people really had to go off when judging his character was his appearance, and between the lack of colour and excess of well-worn leather, it had to speak pretty loudly. The fact that he had shown up wearing his usual clothes due to literally not owning anything more conventionally 'formal' should further encourage only the smallest of expectations for his dance performance tonight.

Once again casting a few quick glances around the party, Ruben observed how some other couples were dancing and began to mimic their movements. Huh, apparently slow dancing wasn't so hard after all. It was just a matter of standing close and shuffling back and forth a little with the rhythm. He could handle that well enough. Still more hip-swaying movement than he was used to, but he wasn't opposed.

"So how is tonight turning out for you?" he quizzed Holland casually, quirking his eyebrows at hen. Ideally he would've been able to raise just one, but despite having more than enough brow to go around, Ruben hadn't yet figured out the right muscular control to wiggle them independently of each other. (He would never admit to how much time had been wasted in front of various mirrors trying to fix this situation.) "Has it measured as good as past parties?" Hopefully so; he was having a great time with hen so far, and he was already trying to think of ways to extend it.
