You're not wrong

Dardanius cringed at Marissa’s reminder that he and Camilla had not been especially discreet to begin with; it had, as she said, taken them a while to relocate to the shadows. In his defence, it wasn't as though Danny had been planning to do more than dance and chat. Things had just… happened. He wouldn't lie, he was feeling pretty good about his evening, but he wasn't the sort of person who might brag about intimate encounters, either (although apparently he was fine kissing a girl in the middle of a crowded space, which was knowledge new to him).

If asked, Danny was sure he couldn't pin down an emotion to describe his scattered thoughts at that moment. Spending the evening with Camilla had been great; it had been fun and unexpected and exciting. He hadn't given thought to anyone else, but the moment other people returned to his consciousness, the first in line had been Marissa, and Danny's first concern was not whether she had enjoyed her party, but how she'd gotten along with Russell. Danny considered there were three possible causes for his reaction. Maybe he was concerned for Marissa, that existing, unfounded rumours about her promiscuity would be encouraged if she was seen making out with another student. Maybe he was concerned for Russell, who might form an attachment to Marissa that was unlikely - history being dependable - to be reciprocated. Or maybe he was concerned for himself. The last point was troubling to consider, given he'd spent the party kissing an entirely different girl.

Luckily, his thoughts could be distracted by searching for Marissa’s discarded shoes. “You’re not meeting up with Camilla anywhere?” Then again, maybe not.

He’d opened his mouth to ask why he would be meeting Camilla again already, but then her unspoken implications registered. “Not tonight,” Danny managed to retort. Marissa’s teasing was actually a comfort; this, at least, was familiar. “I'm here to help a barefoot damsel in distress.” He twirled his wand around his hand and wordlessly cast lumos, igniting its tip. He shone the light from his wand upon and beneath the nearby table, but no shoes were illuminated. He began to walk around, searching for shoes. “I'll holler if I find any footwear," he assured her.

  • Danny always stayed to clean up; that was true. He was good like that. She couldn’t think of a single time that Danny hadn’t stayed, even when she told him he didn’t have to. This party was... more

He wished he hadn’t said anything. Marissa didn’t seem impressed by his question, and why would she? It really wasn’t his business to ask about her evening’s activities, as she informed him a moment... more
              • Welp, go us. - Marissa, Sun Apr 9 10:59
She immediately felt bad about her response. She didn’t mean to be rude or whatever. It’s not like her love life had ever been a secret from anyone. Even if she actively tried to keep it a secret, no ... more

Marissa seemed to want to talk at the same time, which was fine, because Danny hadn't been sure he was helping the situation. She was blaming Armaan for making her cranky, which caused him to grin a... more
