Maybe a little participation.

Having known Francine for most of their shared seven years at RMI, he wasn't caught too off-guard when she literally dragged him into the passages by the hand. This didn't stop him, however, from letting out a bemused-but-must-you-really sigh. With the exception of dating, Lucien wasn't a very physical person, not even with his family - well, maybe Emile on occasion. The kid was a hugger. Fortunately, he'd gotten used to Francine over time, so the sigh was the only reaction he gave her now. This was presumably a huge improvement from whenever it was in some earlier year that she'd first violated his personal space.

He wasn't a physical person, and yet he'd come to (slightly, occasionally) appreciate what he considered to be Francine's weird fixation on contact. Why? Easy: It was a trait absolutely baffling to him, and one that practically every other person who interacted with him seemed to lack. In his perspective, it was a bizarrely unique thing about their dynamic. This made it bearable. But he was still relieved to lightly shake her off and slip his hand free once they were in hearing range of the party.

Tapping his wand idly against his leg, Lucien joined her in staring around the room. It seemed most of the upperclassmen had already arrived; it was pretty full. "Looks alright, but it's impossible to tell from here," he pointed out reasonably, not noticing her wink. He was focused on the crowded space. The passageways had a lot of nooks and crannies; who knew what was really going on?

...Well, some of it wasn't too hard to imagine. The brunette wrinkled his nose at the unclassier of the dance styles currently on display and resolved not to go poking too far into the aforementioned nooks and crannies. Mon Dieu, there was a reason why he had no interest in going to bars. Alphonse had offered him a fake I.D. and invited him along one Friday night in some strange attempt to bond, and he'd hardly been able to stop snickering and eye-rolling long enough to turn it down.

"We'll have to stay for a while." He should've known better than to get his hopes up about a quick in-and-out when Marissa's name was attached to the party. Lucien almost sighed again, but turned it into a cough. Francine seemed happy to be here, so he might as well try to make the most of it. It was their last first-party-of-the-year, after all... "Let's pull a couple laps?" he suggested with a grin that was only partially forced. "Maybe snag some food, gather intel, see if they're hiding any firsties under the table?"

  • Yup. Totally just an observation. - Francine Holtz, Sat Jan 14 22:46
Francine skipped merrily behind Lucien as they checked out the library. It was her favorite place to be after hours, when she wasn’t supposed to be unless she was doing prefect - and now Head Girl -... more

      • *A lot - Francine, Tue Jan 17 01:11
She saw his nose wrinkle - God, he’s a cutie - and got the feeling he was judging people, but that wasn’t too surprising. He was from one of those stuffy families, the ones where people had roman... more
        • Only reluctantly - Lucien, Tue Jan 17 21:24
Lucien followed her over to where the food was. Feeling a little thirsty, he reached for the punch bowl before pausing and pulling his hand back. What were the odds someone had spiked it? It wasn't... more
          • Good, good. That's super convincing. - Francine, Wed Jan 18 20:56
He seemed hesitant. His initial response, while not even a full sentence, led to negative expectations. Francine did her best to stifle a pout, not wanting to guilt him into something he didn’t want... more
            • I'm good at pretending - Lucien, Fri Jan 20 13:00
She was much too excited about dancing, in his opinion, and Lucien had to scramble to put his cup down when she grabbed his hand again. He managed to get it on the edge of the table without spilling... more
              • We're such good spies! - Francine, Fri Jan 20 21:19
Francine liked to be optimistic. It was a better outlook for the present, an eager positivity that made any current situation feel better, and then at least if you got disappointed later, you could... more
                • Classy ones, too. - Lucien, Mon Jan 23 18:22
Francine said she liked his style. Whether she was referencing the dance position he had established for them or something more about himself specifically, he wasn’t clear, but either way it was... more

He snorted at her remark of Nick being a better partner - not in a bad way, of course; it was obviously true. When he thought about it, it felt like Nick had been in dance lessons for practically as... more
                      • I think you look wonderful as is. - Francine, Tue Jan 24 00:32
Francine giggled with his returned response. Had Lucien always been this funny? If so, she was quite disappointed in herself for wasting six years not picking it up. She wasn’t entirely sure he... more
                        • Having you beside me helps. - Lucien, Tue Jan 24 01:15
He’d ducked down to be closer for speaking purposes. Their heights weren’t too far apart, but it was loud in the room, so ducking was a practical move. Something had gone astray, clearly, because now ... more
                          • Well, a smile's the greatest accessory. - Francine, Tue Jan 24 18:04
It took a moment before he was actually kissing back, which was weird since he had started leaning in first as far as she knew, but maybe it was just the shock of being beaten to the metaphorical... more
