I, too, never cease

Aww, Myfanwy thought that Kit would make a good party hostess! Kit’s cheeks turned pink with excitement as she bounced on the balls of her feet. It would be amazing! She didn’t have a theme yet though. All good parties had themes. Maybe something like - rainbows! Rainbows was a great theme, they could have rainbow glitter everywhere and maybe a cake where rainbows came out and different drinks that turned different colors of the rainbow, and maybe they could have a game where you had different rings and when you pushed them together something cool happened depending on the colours you had! There weren’t a whole lot of fully-formed ideas in Kit’s mind, but she thought that it was a pretty good start. She’d ask Marissa. Everyone would like a rainbow party!

Geez, Myfanwy seemed really cool.

“Marissa hasn’t had a party yet,” Kit confirmed. “But she’s planning something big and it’s going to be epic! Everyone always comes to Marissa’s parties. One of the older girls named Heather says she’s as popular as a school broomstick! Heather sometimes tries to throw parties but she usually doesn’t have parties that are as good as Marissa’s and sometimes she doesn’t even invite everyone, which is kind of the point of parties, don’t you think? Unless maybe I could have just a party for the younger years since sometimes kids your age go around kissing everyone and stuff.” The first-year made a face. Kissing was gross. Mom and Dad did kissing a lot and it was super gross because it was Mom and Dad, but probably Marissa did kissing too. Kit knew Rose didn’t, because Rose had told her so once, but from what everyone said about the older kids there was a whole lot of kissing going on there and Kit didn’t want them being all gross at her party.

“You haven’t kissed anyone at school yet, have you?” was the next question that came out of Kit’s mouth. It made sense to her, but to someone not as well acquainted with the twisty interior of the redhead’s mind, it might have seemed random. Even if Myfanwy had kissed anyone at school, unless it was Marissa or Rose or Ruben, Kit probably wouldn’t know them. And Ruben she’d only kind of made friends with, since she’d gotten hurt during Defense Against the Dark Arts before they’d caught even one faerie. Kit wasn’t sure who Rose was interested in, and she wasn’t sure who Marissa was interested in, but Mom and Dad had made sure the Kendrick girls knew that who people decided to kiss was their decision. Sometimes boys and girls kissed, like Mom and Dad, and sometimes two boys kissed, like Kit’s grandpas. And sometimes two girls kissed, like Aunt Jessie who was getting married to someone. It was so weird that Aunt Jessie was getting married. They all knew that Aunt Jessie was Madeleine and Drew’s bio-mom, but Kit’s grandpas were their real parents. When Aunt Jessie got married, what would her girlfriend be? Well, Kit supposed that Aunt Jessie would have a wife then, not a girlfriend. But the new person - would she be another aunt? She couldn’t be another bio-mom, obviously, because Drew only had one of those. That was weird.

Hearing that the first year thought the Owen sisters’ names were strange didn’t bother Myffi in the slightest, especially as Kit - yes! Now she had a name to put to the face (and the voice, which was ... more
