His confidence was delightful. Sometimes Francine worried about the people around her - if they were really happy, if they felt good about themselves - and that included Lucien, so his almost boastful promise to teach her how to dance were equal parts relieving and infectious. His confidence brought her some as well, rejuvenating her energies (as if Francine Holtz ever waned). His hand shifted on her back. The light wasn’t great, but he looked amazing.

“I guess,” she said with a laugh. She had started dance lessons with Nick as a kid, but she’d dropped them way before they got to RMI. Fortunately, he never let her look too awful at the thing he loved, so worst case scenario, she would completely blow this dancing thing and Nick would fly across the floor - he was here somewhere, she was sure - and knock her out of the way. “Nick would probably still be a better dance partner, though,” she added, mostly for her own benefit of the mental image.

The blonde did her best not to watch her feet, although she was a bit nervous that she might step on Lucien if she didn’t. She kept her head up and let her legs do the work, trying to follow the two slow steps, two quick steps thing he proposed. Francine listened to his counts, mentally counting along, rolling merrily along with the music.

Now spin.

“Yes, sir,” she giggled, spinning out. The world around her blurred with motion, and she felt a happy breeze where her yellow dress flew up slightly, air bubbling it out beneath her. “This is wonderful!” she grinned when she was back to facing him. “You’re a marvelous teacher, and a divine dancer, Lucien. I could dance with you forever.”

Francine said she liked his style. Whether she was referencing the dance position he had established for them or something more about himself specifically, he wasn’t clear, but either way it was... more

      • I'll have to get a nicer suit, then - Lucien, Mon Jan 23 23:43
He snorted at her remark of Nick being a better partner - not in a bad way, of course; it was obviously true. When he thought about it, it felt like Nick had been in dance lessons for practically as... more
        • I think you look wonderful as is. - Francine, Tue Jan 24 00:32
Francine giggled with his returned response. Had Lucien always been this funny? If so, she was quite disappointed in herself for wasting six years not picking it up. She wasn’t entirely sure he... more
          • Having you beside me helps. - Lucien, Tue Jan 24 01:15
He’d ducked down to be closer for speaking purposes. Their heights weren’t too far apart, but it was loud in the room, so ducking was a practical move. Something had gone astray, clearly, because now ... more
            • Well, a smile's the greatest accessory. - Francine, Tue Jan 24 18:04
It took a moment before he was actually kissing back, which was weird since he had started leaning in first as far as she knew, but maybe it was just the shock of being beaten to the metaphorical... more
