Francine giggled with his returned response. Had Lucien always been this funny? If so, she was quite disappointed in herself for wasting six years not picking it up. She wasn’t entirely sure he considered her a friend, but they’d always been basically friendly. He was her brother’s cute roommate, and she was his roommate’s bubbly sister, yearmates in a small school. They were on each other’s radar probably since Orientation.

She liked the way he moved her, the way he spun her around a little faster this time. He said something or another and then pulled her back in close. Francine looked at him, his eye level just a couple inches above hers, and then he was leaning in closer, ducking down to speak and be heard over the music, using closeness to compensate for volume, but she completely misread his intentions, and… well, she wasn’t one to think things through very well.

So she leaned in too, her arms wrapping around his neck, and she kissed him.

The music was blaring, but in her mind was nothing but silence. Her blue eyes snapped shut, the only sensory anything she perceived was his warm mouth against hers. Lucien was softer than she expected, in all regards. Although maybe “expected” was the wrong word, since there hadn’t been much time or thought put into this happening until suddenly it was. But she was glad it was. She knew that much, even as her brain fuzzed out.

He’d ducked down to be closer for speaking purposes. Their heights weren’t too far apart, but it was loud in the room, so ducking was a practical move. Something had gone astray, clearly, because now ... more
        • Well, a smile's the greatest accessory. - Francine, Tue Jan 24 18:04
It took a moment before he was actually kissing back, which was weird since he had started leaning in first as far as she knew, but maybe it was just the shock of being beaten to the metaphorical... more
