Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe it was Emmett going back to being the funny nerd she knew, but Marissa was laughing a lot tonight. It was the good kind of laughter. It spread across her freckled face, and sometimes it was so strong that she had to lean her head back to laugh even more. He could make a nice, monogamous girl happy if he just tried and stopped worrying about everyone else in the world. He had some time to figure that out. He may not have been the most colorful crayon in the box, but he wasn’t stupid. He’d figure it out.

Really, it was too bad that Rose was just not interested in the fourth year.

“Okay, well,” she also wiggled their arms, giggling, “Spin me around, and then dip me. I’ll help.”

She quickly moved, leading the two of them into a nice little spin like he described. It was silly, childlike, but it was fun. She wasn’t all that interested in dipping Emmett, because what fun was there in that, so when they finished spinning, she put an arm around his shoulder and shifted her weight. If all went well, Emmett would be dipping her and she’d be looking up at him, smiling and laughing.

“See? You wanted to spin and dip, so we did. Isn’t it fun, just…doing what you want? I’m having fun.”
