The water was a hit; Dardanius was relieved, and had a celebratory gulp of his own drink. “Do you guys get together very often?” Camilla asked, and Danny assumed she was talking about Marissa and the others in their non-exclusive but oft-together group. He took a moment to seek them out in the passageway around them; everyone seemed to be having a good time, which is all anyone could really ask for.

“Yeah, I guess so,” Danny replied, glancing back at Camilla and grinning. “Most of the fifth years get along. And Emmett,” he added, gesturing to the younger student with a nod of his head in Emmett’s direction. The fourth year had just done a very peculiar sort of a wiggle. Danny tilted his head to the side. That was an odd movement, even for this sort of casual dancing. “He’s not the smartest broomstick in the shed,” he added, with no malice; he liked Emmett, most of the time.

Camilla commented that his friends sounded like a nice bunch. Dardanius knew she was just being polite - he had said nothing in either direction that indicated how his friends were, nice or otherwise. They were nice, for the most part, and if Camilla wanted to join them at parties or other informal gathering more often then Danny knew his friends would welcome her. “You should come join us more,” he suggested to her; she didn’t necessarily need to wait for Elijah to ask her along (although Danny had no qualms with the other sixth year being around, too). “Next time there’s a party, can I count on you being there?” he asked. At least if Camilla was around then there would be someone for him to talk to while all the other guest were being lead by their natural rhythm. And hormones.
