That was a pretty cool cat

Fan, Holland looked incredible. His eyes had lit up upon seeing who he had been partnered with: sparkly ballgowns didn't fit his personal style interests, but that didn't mean he couldn't admire it, and the way it looked on hen was really something else. Grinning back, Ruben expressed this sentiment openly. "Holland, you are burning up the room." The proclamation was paired with a two-handed gesture that traced approximately from hens feet up and out, which he intended to be complimentary, kind of a look-at-all-of-you!, although he hadn't used this particular gesture on an American yet so whether it would be interpreted the same way as he expected remained to be seen.

His interactions with Holland so far had been pretty casual and limited to classroom settings. Not that that was unusual - he hadn't spent much time socially with anyone, preferring to pass his days scoping out the school and better acquaintencing himself with its layout and culture. This had its benefits, as it meant that even though he had only been at RMI since Midterm, he was already totally comfortable. (More accurately, he nearly always managed to look comfortable lounging in any environment, but now his insides matched.) On the downside, 'making friends' wasn't a thing that really happened. On the upside, he cared less about that and had cheerfully stumbled into random engagements instead, like Kaye and EJ and now Holland. It was awesome that they had been paired off tonight.

He briefly considered telling hen about his role in what he could only imagine to be a spectacular bruising all over that French dude, toned arms and legs tingling with a sudden spike of adrenaline just at the thought. However, he didn't know Holland well enough yet to gauge hens stance on violence. And, admittedly, even though French dude had been a dick to hen, which he thought probably meant his enthusiasm at beating him up would be appreciated, Ruben hadn't actually beat him up on hens behalf or even EJ's, really. And he definitely didn't know Holland well enough to gauge hens stance on unprovoked recreational violence.

Having scratched that as a conversation topic, he was left empty-handed, so it was good Holland initiated the conversation with hens own question. "It is impressive," he nodded. "And the setup is really fantastic. Last month did I walk around these passages a bit when I found an entrance, but I did not think they would be used for much other than walking and... well." Ruben wiggled his wild eyebrows pointedly, certain he wouldn't have to spell it out for hen. What else did teenagers do in hidden passages? Well, party, apparently. He knew that now. Sidling closer, his eyes wandered briefly to a drinks area farther down, making mental note of it for later (his skinny jeans fit like a second skin, so the pockets were of no use, but a second long chain necklace under his tank was attached to a vial of something rather strong that he hoped to add in), before he snagged a carrot for himself. "Do you know, are the passages going very far? Up to the street level, maybe?"

OOC to any curious readers: no, Ruben is not calling Holland a chicken! Hen is the Swedish gender neutral singular pronoun, so that's just how he thinks of them.
