Ruben Lundqvist
I need your help! [Holland]
Thu Jun 1, 2017 23:57

Ruben wasnít always in a great mood, but he was generally in a good one. That trend might have continued yesterday if he hadnít been interrupted in his pursuit for justice. But, nope, heíd been both cut off and handed a totally uncalled-for punishment. When he thought about it, that made his first real punishment since first- or maybe second-year, actually, which strongly demonstrated Garenís unfair assessment of his maturity or whatever exactly the man had been going on about. On top of that, Garen hadnít at all done his job of playing the neutral party as was usually expected from supposed authority types and instead blatantly sided with Camilla. Heíd all but ignored Rubenís description of how hurt Marissa had been from Camillaís bullying. That was bizarre.

Garen had also genuinely ignored the critical state of Rubenís hair. That was so far past Ďbizarreí, it was actually offensive to the proud Swede. He had left Garenís office without recognition of his injury, without even an offer to help. There was a small chance that the man simply hadnít paid enough attention to notice, but that was super small, because his shiny scalp was definitely noticeable. Definitely. Hence, Garen had ignored him on purpose.

It probably didnít need to be said, but Garen, already on a mediocre spot along Rubenís mental list of Ďdecent faculty membersí, had been shuffled quite far down the list. (To be fair, there was currently no one from RMI at the top of the list. Even Ivy, whose attitude Ruben liked the most, was ranked slightly lower than nearly all of his old Durmstrang professors.)

He readjusted his grey knit hat one final time, checking to make sure as much of his bald head as possible was covered. To him, it still looked too obvious, so he also tugged up the hood of his sweatshirt jumper whatever the right name was to call a sleeveless-sweatshirt. He was still dissatisfied, but the tall boy was hungry, too, so Ruben flipped off his reflection in the mirror and then stormed out of the dormitory, making sure to turn a blue-eyed glare onto the younger kids in the Aquila commons as he went past.

His stride became somewhat lessÖ angry as he approached the Diner. Holland was supposed to meet him for dinner. They hadnít met since his Hair Fiasco yesterday, which wasnít entirely unusual; hen had a busier class schedule than he, and heíd actively avoiding going to classes the rest of yesterday and so far all of today, as well. In some ways, the space had been appreciated. When Ruben fumed, he knew from experience that he either needed to be alone with his thoughts or knock the responsible person(s) out, and he had maintained the sanity to know that Garen would be watching him closely so that wasnít an option. Taking the day to fume instead had improved his emotional state (somewhat).

But Ruben had found himself missing Holland, which actually formed the basis for some of his wardrobe choice today. The hood was a practical way to cover his head with an extra layer, but the sweater-thing wasnít one heíd worn before at RMI; it had a sort of punk-art style with some American model lady on the front, which fit into his usual style criteria while also being something he thought Holland would appreciate. It was a way to make up to hen for his terrible appearance otherwise. (Somewhat.)

ďHolland!Ē A grin found its way to his face for the first time since pre-Dueling Club yesterday as Ruben spotted hen already sitting at a table. He slid into the seat beside hen and slung an arm around hens shoulder, leaning in to offer a kiss. ďFan, it is great to see you. I am in so much need of hair-help, you would not believe it.Ē

Apparently, Rubenís biggest priority right now was to object that it was not easy for him to get into fights with people. As a person, Holland was primed to spot discrepancies, and Ruben had... more
                          • I do prefer actions over words - Ruben, Wed Jun 14 12:01
It didn't resolve any of his confusion about the unnecessary debate they'd wound up in, but Holland's confirmation that they could at least talk about it later was somewhat reassuring. Ruben would... more
