As Satveer listened to Drews detailing his relationship with the red headed, he couldn’t help but smile. ‘She’s my best friend’. How lovely, he thought. Drew’s father must be a loving man to have adopted both Drew and the red headed girl’s mother (and by extension, the red headed girl). Whilst it would have been completely inappropriate to do so, Satveer wished he could have taken notes. This would bound to come up later. Satveer forgot things. Often crucial things. Thing just like this!

As drew asked his question, Satveer bubbled inside. He’s interested in me. I may have turned this around! “My favourite place” he paused for dramatic effect. This was by far one of the easiest questions to answer. It was, in-fact, easier than answering the question of his name. “South Africa. Without a doubt. It was awesome.” He continued with a reaffirming head nod. “My uncle lived with muggles. It was so cool. He lived on the whole top floor of their house and in the loft, he had my father’s Occamy nest.” Bachan (Satveer’s father), had asked Satveer’s uncle to take care of his Occamy until they had settled down.

Occamy were Satveer’s favourite of all the magical and non-magical creatures. The Mittal family had kept the same family of Occamy for generations. As a Mittal child came of age, it was tradition for Grandfather to give the child an unhatched egg at their Dastar Bandi (turban-tying) ceremony. Whilst Satveer could tie his turban, his family’s movements had meant he hadn’t yet had a Dastar Bandi ceremony.

Satveer continued, his voice levelling out “Most days we ate breakfast with the muggles and helped them around the house.” He paused knowing he had to proceed cautiously. “Not using any magic or anything, just… helping.” he affirmed. Satveer was well versed on the legalities or magic and muggles.

‘I have a last name’ was not really the kind of fun fact Drew had been going for, but Sam wasn’t crying so he decided to let it slide. Drew was not much of a tea-drinker but, he thought, he’d be... more
