Hunter Ioma (2nd Year)
Confetti Monster Attack!
Wed Jun 28, 2017 21:24

Hunter practically jogged through the diner doors and over to the Lyra fire. Not intentionally or anything, he just tended to walk quickly when he was excited, and he was very excited. On his rapid trip through the front hall he had briefly considered resisting the urge to let out a loud whoop when he got into the diner, but quickly dismissed the notion. Which was probably just as well, because the moment he got into the diner and saw all the familiar faces there was no way he would have been able to resist.

It was Hunter’s estimation that this school was the coolest place on Earth, and he couldn’t wait to get this year started. He was set. He had plans. He somehow passed all his classes despite having very little idea what he was doing most of the time, a confusing but amicable understanding with the secret passageways, and a craving for adventure. And he definitely wasn’t going to get lost this year. More than once. A day. Maybe.

After a little while the Deputy Headmistress started to say words and Hunter noticed that her clothes were really cool. But she hadn’t been talking long before a small explosion of gold confetti blossomed into existence over the entrance with a loud POP that had Hunter scrabbling to his feet over his lazily open robe and pulling his wand from the long, thin pocket of his cargo pants and standing in a sort of ready crouch. As his eyes scanned wildly over the diner his brain caught up and he realized the confetti was a super-emphatic welcome for the new first-years, which was cool. Really cool. Hunter grinned as he realized he’d no longer be one of the youngest students at the school. New people meant new opportunities for adventures.

He looked on with interest as the first-years filed in holding their dream catchers, and was just starting to think about sitting back down when there was another loud POP and more confetti exploded into existence over the Draco fire. Then the Cetus fire, then the Lyra and Aquila fires at almost the same instant. His brain was still catching up from a stimulus overload of sound and confetti and it wasn’t until after he took a rolling tumble to move further away from the fire, raised his wand, and shouted “Flipendo!” at the confetti that he realized it was confetti, which reacted by sort of swirling a little bit and then going right back to falling gently. Emphatically celebrating the houses was pretty cool, Hunter figured.

He sat back down as the house elves came in with food. He tilted his head slightly as he accepted a burger and fries and commented to the elf that he was at a very convenient height for handing food to people sitting on the floor.

As the house elf moved on Hunter nudged one of the new students. “So, what do you make of it all?”
