With no sign of slowing down

“Oh, really?” Glancing down, Marley saw that indeed there was confetti all over her pizza. She swiped at it with her hands, brushing off some of the glittery green bits, but didn’t bother to clean it entirely before taking another bite. It wasn’t really worth worrying about. Marley was pretty sure that she had eaten way more glitter than this when she was younger; little kids ate, like, everything, and most of the kiddie crafts she vaguely remembered doing (well, she could only really remember them ‘cause her gran had saved a lot of those old crafts and still refused to throw them out) had involved glitter, so that probably meant at least half the glitter had wound up inside of her. She probably still had sparkly insides!

India was super far away. Marley thought it might even be farther away than England, although she wasn’t entirely sure how to measure that since it looked farther away on maps but apparently the Earth spun around on an angle and so it might actually be closer than it seemed. Regardless, it must take a long time to send mail there. It always amused her a bit to think of how it was somehow easier for her to send Bludger - a magic owl, but still an owl - flying all the way across the ocean with letters to Connor and Claudia, when really they could’ve just emailed or something. Claudia’s letters admittedly had gotten to Marley much faster than Connor’s, but she assumed that was because Claudia actually remembered to write her occasionally whereas Connor had been busier and forgotten to reply to her mail. Poor Bludger, waiting around on Connor before giving up and coming home empty-handedclawed.

Sam had talked a lot, so Marley had a lot of things to catch up on once he paused. Pizza first, though. She waved enthusiastically at the elf, and then waved at Sam to grab a piece (or two, or more, whatever) before taking a couple more for her own plate. Spinach with cheese, hers looked like. “Yay, now you can try it!” she grinned before immediately launching into question mode. “So you didn’t drive when you travelled?” The dark-skinned girl didn’t realize that it was a reference to the movie she had referenced first. “Did you, like, have a flying car or something? Because that sounds like the best way to move a whole family around, but also really hard. My mum’s a mechanic - she works with both magic and Muggle tech - and sometimes wizards hire her to modify their cars but she has to be really careful about installing flight mods and stuff because of the Statute of Secrecy,” Marley babbled. “You need all sorts of protection so that Muggles don’t notice it flying, and there’s even a special license that the driver has to get to prove they’re allowed to own a flying vehicle.”

Marley wasn’t the type who normally left long pauses for other people to talk, but she was pretty hungry, and the gap where she wolfed down another full pizza slice was surely enough space for him to answer. But, of course, she barged right back in. “It’s great that your family all came with you. That must be way easier for keeping in touch with them. I’m sorta from Canada, and like, I’m Canadian, but my parents are spread out. My dad and his family are all in Toronto, and some of my mum’s family is around there too, but my mum travels mostly around the States for work,” she described. “Our timezones are usually a bit different, but at the most it’s maaaybe two hours. But I guess India is, like… a whole day? That’s crazy!”
