...Can this be right?
Tue Jan 16, 2018 23:19

Inga was, to say the least, upset. She had always known about magic (despite her muggle father) but in her experience magic was the crackling of fire on the solstice, the earthy smell of mushroom gathering on the weekends, and dancing to the kokle at night. Not this strange stuffy place, where people herded her to a room full of loud children her age and left her alone while muttering nonsense about uprisings. This was most assuredly NOT the magical education she had expected based on her mother’s excited stories over the summer.

Her parents had moved from Riga this summer, and had told her about the beauties of Colorado, and how warm it was compared to Latvia, and how she would just have the most amazing time of her life thanks to their move. In particular, they were thrilled that she had the chance to go to Rocky Mountain International. “A school like no other darling! Inga, when I was a child, I had no formal magical education, my parents could not afford it. I will not deprive you the chance to go to a top notch school. Not when your father so easily found a job in Denver and I can floo to my job every day. So you will go, and you will learn the most amazing things.” Her mother could be very persuasive and what did an 11 year old have to say in the matter anyway.

However, standing there surrounded by children, feeling decidedly alone and out of place, she just began to wonder if her mother wasn’t entirely sane. Surely, this place couldn’t be magic.
