Ruben Lundqvist
Heeeey Danny boy!

At this exact moment, Ruben couldn’t entirely tell where his hair ended and his salad began. This was an unusual experience and also one that he was absolutely fine with. The Drama Club overall had minimal appeal to him, but ever since being casted in the upcoming play, he’d decided that there were actually a few things about it that were satisfying enough to make the experience tolerable. Such as: his kickass girlfriend had literally (okay, metaphorically, as far as he was aware) kicked Heather’s ass right off the stage entirely. Another example: Holland was agreeable to braiding his hair again for the sake of costuming experimentation, and their well-practiced fingers were an enjoyable addition to rehearsals. Finally, and most importantly, Ruben had been cast in the role of Audrey Two.

Whether one or two or not numbered at all, Audrey was a dumb name. And a plant, which was equally dumb. However, Audrey Two was a murderously hungry beast who ate every other character of significance and was, by process of elimination, the real highlight of the show. That made up for its dumb name and foliage’d state of existence. There was still some debate going around the cast-slash-tech-slash-directorMarissa (obviously the real inspiration behind why this show was chosen) regarding whether to build and enchant a plant as part of the set, or borrow one from the greenhouses, or borrow a whole collection from the greenhouses. Personally, Ruben was gunning for turning himself into the plant. Some of the logistics there, namely the consumption side of things, would not be the easiest to pull off, but he was confident in himself.

So all of that came together as the reason for why his hair was woven full of leaves and vines. He hadn’t originally planned to work on this today, otherwise he would’ve arranged to meet up with Holland and get their input... Or more accurately, tried to meet up with Holland. They seemed busier than usual these days. Ruben could admit to initially assuming that was because they were actually serious about the whole university route, but that assumption had been very recently corrected by none other than the previously mentioned probably-metaphorically ass-kicked Heather. “Did you know that Susan saw your ex on Pearl Street? They’re pretty over you. Like, ‘making out with Danny Dubois over a table in Finnigans’ levels of over you. And, yeah, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I thought you should know.” Ugh. The bitch.

...Speak of the devil.

Ruben glanced up interestedly from his soup-and-salad combo at the sound of raised voices. Pretty soon, Claudia was storming past him. Well, storming as much as possible, considering how much of a ‘faint first, ask questions later (or never)’ good Pureblood girl stereotype she played. More of a mild rain. Slight breeze. Anyways. Danny was gaping after her like an idiot, and without wasting any time, Ruben picked up his soup bowl, slurped down the last remnants, and then marched himself and his salad plate over.

“Hejhej, Dar-danny-us,” he greeted the other seventh-year brightly, sliding into the empty seat that Claudia had left behind. “Why such a frowning face? You are all grown up, you made it to your very last year before going out into the big world,” this was punctuated with a loud clink as Ruben set down his plate, “you are still Quidditch captain so have a small chance of doing something good with that, and on top of all of those, you are even dating my ex, which is better than most people can say.” The sarcastic tone of voice was accompanied by a smirk, a wink, and then an energetic impaling of crisp spinach leaves on the tines of his fork. “What is not to like about your life? Aside from making your very nice, very fragile sister cry, you bully.” Ruben took a big bite, maintaining steady eye contact with Danny as he chewed. He felt the spontaneous urge to impale him next with his fork, but… nah. Wasn’t quite the time for that. There was still a good amount of salad left to eat.

Having spent an incredible afternoon with Holland, Danny now had to complete the far less enticing task of telling Claudia that he was - once again - in an unsanctioned relationship. He was hoping... more
