At least let me try (take 2)

Everything was going better than expected. Claudia had accepted his company! And it made the fifth-year feel a bit useful. He had no idea how to help the younger witch, but he seemed to be on the right path. He was simply providing a distraction. The blonde relaxed against the wall he had been leaning on. His smile widened a bit, his fingers messed up his already messed blonde hair before taking a deep breath and addressing the question that Claudia had asked.

“It's great,” he said enthusiastically. He was settling into a well-oiled rhythm. His classes were great - some of them he shared with Claudia! - and Quidditch could have been better, but it was definitely better than at his former school. Caleb still felt he needed more friends, but he was okay with how things were going. He still talked to his other friends. “I guess the main difference is the more varied cultures you can find here,” he started. “I live in an all magical community in Chicago, very small, very white community,” he finished with a small laugh. “My father wanted us to get more wide education, more multicultural, especially since RMI has a great international reputation.”

Caleb took another breath, “Though is very different because the school I attended before wasn't a boarding school, I got to go back home to my siblings and mother.” The blonde had to admit - not to anyone, anyways - that he actually missed that. He missed his mother smothering him with his favorite snacks, he missed Thomas asking him infinite questions about school and magic, and the cooing of Penny when he played with her. And he also missed Wesley, but he usually stuck to himself.

However, there were things he was thoroughly enjoying like the freedom that came from not having constant parental figures asking you about your homework. “So far, the pros are winning,” he finished with a laugh.

“How about you? What do you like best about RMI?” Caleb wanted to learn more about Claudia other than Danny’s baby sister, and talking to her was the best course of action, even when she still seemed to be upset. Caleb was here to offer the best distractions!
