That seems wrong to me

Leah tried very hard to summon everything she knew about manticores. Did they eat humans? She couldn’t say for sure. All she remembered was that they were violent creatures who were most likely bred by wizards to protect their treasures, and that there had been various incidents where people were harmed by manticores.

Still, Leah was averse to the idea of capturing one (or more?) of those beasts with force. “I don’t know, but I think trapping manticores isn’t a good idea. I mean, they’re dangerous of course, but they’re also sentient and extremely intelligent. How would you feel if someone put you in, like, a cage?”

The more she thought about it, the less likely it seemed to her that there would be actual manticores in the school, no matter what Professor Boot had said. No one would let that happen. The administration wouldn’t put students in danger like that. And even if there was a manticore problem, surely they’d get professionals (like her Dad) to deal with it?

Anyway, the most daunting beings around here were definitely her fellow classmates. Which reminded her that she was currently talking to one. But he seemed nice. And she needed a friend. Maybe they could be friends? That would make her life so much easier. (At least that was what she presumed after having read way too many Muggle children’s books about best friends solving mysteries.)

But she hadn’t even introduced herself yet! “My name’s Leah, by the way,” she quickly added, reprimanding herself for her rudeness. It would probably take her some time to get used to talking with people who weren’t her family. “Nice to meet you, Elliot.”

Leah snorted a laugh through her tears. “Hey, I think they’d prefer me to you!” She quickly wiped her eyes, feeling silly already. “But I’m not afraid of manticores. Dragons are much scarier, to be... more
