Keith smiled when Jesse nodded in agreement about his comments on computers. He had wanted his own for a while, but Dad thought they were useless, and Mom had a computer for the whole family but wanted to keep an eye on what Keith did so he wasn’t allowed to have his own. It was a bit unfair, but he could play some video games on it.

Jesse was talking about the type of books he liked, and it was Keith’s turn to nod in agreement. Keith would read anything, in fact, his Dad who didn’t allow books at the dining room table often teased Keith on just how hard he would study a cereal box in the morning.

The blonde’s smile widened when his roommate replied enthusiastically about liking comics. “My dad and I go every Wednesday to the comic book shop,” Keith said referring to the day that new comics usually hit the shelves. “He’s going to keep sending my favorites this year, but next year he said there’s a comic shop on Pearl Street, so I’ll probably go up there and get them. I have a bunch in my trunk, and when the new ones come on Wednesday, we can share them.” Keith wasn’t afraid to offer Jesse to read his comics because his dad would charm them so the comics wouldn’t get torn or crinkled during the flight with owls.

“Oh Gundam models are robot models. I have one unbuilt one with me. I can show you later. They are from a manga which is just Japanese comics, in fact, I have a few with me I haven’t read yet. There’s also a tv series set in the Gundam universe. A fighter jet one sounds awesome.” Keith blurted out forgetting all about the feast around him.

“I like wizard’s chess.” In fact, he liked it way better than exploding snap or gobstones. “Do you have your own set?” Keith liked all the sets he had seen so far, but most of the time his dad said he didn’t need his own as he owned one and he knew RMI had a bunch in the Rec Center.

Keith praised computers, and Jesse nodded in fervent agreement. His family did not own a single computer between them, because his parents did not have a lot of money, and insisted - much like... more

Keith knew a lot more about comic books than Jesse did. His Dad took him to a comic book shop every weeks, and he was going to receive them by mail while he was at school, and he knew there was a... more
