Forget me not
Wed Oct 17, 2018 14:53

After class, Gigi had been sure to take her robes off and throw them unceremoniously into the corner of the room she shared with Vi. The first year also emptied her bag of unnecessary books (but left some ink and parchment in there because she might head to the library after eating to finish her magizoobotany assignment), splashed some water on her face to freshen up and combed her fingers through her dark brown hair to make her frizzy curls look less like a bird’s nest. She thought momentarily about tying it up but she’d lost or broken all her hair elastics already, so loose and wild it remained.

The skinny English girl turned her attention to the ferret in a large cage near her bed, currently curled up in its pink shredded paper bedding. “You coming out for a bit?” Georgina asked. Lady Godiva twitched her little pink nose. Gigi opened the cage and her pet blearily opened her eyes. “If I slept as much as you my life would be perfect,” she said affectionately, stroking a finger down a soft, furry head. Lady Govida shuffled from her confines and scurried over Gigi’s jeans-clad knees to bury herself in the girl’s bookbag. “That’s my girl.”

Standing with as much grace as her skin-tight jeans would allow, Gigi retied the knot in her dark pink t-shirt, distorting the black printed text ‘drop dead gorgeous’, and bearing her midriff in the process, and then carefully picked up her ferret-containing bag. She slipped the strap over her shoulder and hummed a song she didn’t know but she’d heard a bunch of people singing in the corridor after a musical rehearsal as she sauntered to the Diner.

Georgina dropped unceremoniously into a seat, placing her bag more carefully on the seat next to her. She offered a casual, “Hey,” to the other occupant at the table, and began to load her plate with cream cheese potato skins and something she thought was popcorn chicken, but it was too squishy. Oh, it was mushrooms, Why? Why would anyone put breadcrumbs on mushrooms? “Are they trying to kill me?” she muttered to herself, putting the sneaky mushrooms back into their serving dish and spooning some salsa onto her plate, instead.

Then, before she’s even had a bite of her food, she blinked. Her thoughts felt a bit fuzzy for a moment, and then - nothing. Just nothing. She didn’t know who she was or where she was and could not remember how she got there. This was weird. Not normal. The girl looked up at the other person seated at the table. “What the good golly pineapple is going on?”
